Fusing Procedure

1.0  Purpose

The purpose of this procedure is to provide a guidance to all the employees of the organization to ensure fusing techniques are in line with buyer standards. This is a part of quality assurance process.

2.0  Scope

All the garments parts where required fusing as per styling.

3.0  Requirements

Style wise data sheet from supplier, Thermo paper, stop watch, bond strength test machine.

Stable power supply with UPS/ Stabilizer.

4.0  Fusing Machine Calibration

Fusing machines should be calibrated twice a day & Calibration should be done for Temperature, Pressure Evenness & Dwell Time.

5.0 Process

5.1 Temperature: Set the fusing machine to the conditions specified in the data sheet.

Allow 20-30 minutes for the machine to heat up and stabilize, then place three thermo strips across the width of the machine, left, center and right. Read the temperature from the strips once they have gone through the machine.

To read the temperature strip, locate the number in front of the darkest black square. In this picture, the temperature is 116°

5.2 Dwell Time: Set the time as specified in the data sheet. Check the fusing/dwell time by using an accurate stop watch (digital recommended).Start timing when the fabric enters the heating cabinet/ zone and stop when the fabric comes out it.

5.3 Pressure Evenness: Carry out a Peel Bond strength test on the three positions across left, center and right at the same time. Compare the results from each of the tests.

6.0 Fusing Conditions and Testing

The factory should have a data sheet report for every fabric. The following parameters should be checked before bulk production (with bulk fabric, interlinings, or motifs).

4.1  Surface Appearance and shade: Fusing surface and appearance must be checked with approval from buyer with record.

4.2  Peel Bond Strength: After fusing peel bond strength must be checked with record.

4.3  Glue Line Temperature: Glue line temperature must be checked with record.

4.4  Shrinkage: Fusing shrinkage must be checked for every style with record.

4.5  Wash Durability: Fusing wash durability must be checked and bond strength also need to check after wash.

Data Sheets: The machine should be set up according to these settings.

Fusing Test: We do Fusing shrinkage & wash test for fusing.
